At the Oscars 2021: “ Best sound ” for Sound of Metal, three Mexicans win. After celebrating the 93rd Academy Awards 2021, Mexico has made history once again. After years where its directors stood out in Hollywood with the awards won at the time by Guillermo del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón and Alejandro González Iñárritu; now it is the sound engineers who have received recognition from the Academy. The winners of the 2021 Oscars were: Carlos Cortés, Michelle Couttolenc and Jaime Baskcht, who won the statuette for best sound, for the sound mix produced for the film “Sound of metal”; which tells the story of a drummer in a metal band who loses his sense of hearing. This team, in charge of this task, worked from the state of Morelos; this important award will go there, in addition to his work in other films such as Pan’s Labyrinth, Rome and the Fantastic Mr. Fox. ‘Soul’ wins the statuette as ‘Best Animated Film’ Also, the film Soul, directed by Pete Docter and Kemp Powers, was chosen as the winner in the category “Best Animated Film” at the Oscars 2021. “Soul” takes the statuette as “Best animated film” And this category was one of the most contested of the night; Well, the five nominated productions turned out to be excellent in which compelling stories were perfectly combined with the most important technological advancements in terms of animation; among other technical elements such as music and dubbing. So, after five nominated productions, Academy members did not have an easy decision in this category, however, they considered Soul to bring all the elements together to be considered the winner of the iconic golden statuette and left behind.
