Several reasons led to the decision to demonstrate by Blue and White members at the premises of the “Lázaro Cárdenas del Río” taxi drivers union in Playa del Carmen; all concerned “the failure to have guarantees from the current secretary that the electoral process will take place.” This is explained by the blue form, led by Bruno López, in a statement in which he points out various anomalies that have been recorded in this electoral process, for which they fear that the following May 2 the votes will be rigged. First, he says: They want us to force the partner who has more than two concessions in his name to vote as many times as he has to ”. Likewise, another anomaly is that “they want to force us that the ballots have a folio as a control measure for them and they can put pressure on the partner and know who they voted for.” Likewise, they denounce that they want to be forced to accept entry to the polls with cellphones so that the ballots can be photographed and can ensure that they have voted for what the current secretary, Rubén Aguilar, indicates. They specify that the demonstration they led was peaceful, with the intention that the authorities know that a possible electoral fraud is brewing at the union of taxi drivers; however, already in the union, “a group of delegates and collaborators of the current union administration, with the luxury of arrogance, confronted our supporters”. After the arrival of the current secretary Rubén Aguilar, they specify that representatives of the non-compliant wage bill met him, but “after three hours of deliberation, we were told that the rules of the game were already written and that since we had no voice or vote in the council, since the election will take place under the conditions imposed by Rubén Aguilar ”. Finally, they report that around 6 pm Wednesday, they left the union premises, because they were alerted that a strike group called by the current secretary was “blowing up” the demonstration.
