The United States plans to release Eduardo Arellano Félix, heir to the Tijuana cartel, by August 18, after having served 10 of the 15 years in prison inflicted by this country for the crime of drug trafficking. According to the US Federal Bureau of Prisons and the “Release Form,” the Mexican is expected to leave the Allenwood, Pa., Prison in six weeks. Arellano Félix was sentenced in 2013 by a California court to 15 years in prison for trafficking marijuana and cocaine to the United States and for being a financial operator of the family cartel since the 1990s. The United States will release the heir of the Tijuana Cartel; Eduardo Arellano Félix has already turned 10 out of 15 for drug trafficking. At 67 years old, “The Doctor” – as he was called because he had studied medicine before becoming a drug dealer – has the possibility of returning to Mexico, where the cartel he founded maintains operations in Lower California and fights with the Sinaloa Cartel. Eduardo Arellano Félix was arrested in August 2008 in Tijuana, Baja California, and in August 2012, he was extradited to the United States.
